Adults Who Use an Electronic Smoking Device

State: Hawaii
Measurement Period: 2022
This indicator shows the percent of adults who currently use an electronic smoking device (e.g., e-cigarettes) on some or most days.

Why is this important?

E-cigarettes, electronic smoking devices, or vapes, are battery-powered devices that provide doses of nicotine and other potentially harmful chemicals in aerosol form to the user. Nicotine is highly addictive and use of e-cigarettes can elevate risks for cardiovascular and respiratory conditions. Since their introduction to the market, these devices have been underregulated. Promoting tobacco cessation, health system changes, and social and environment changes will lead to reduced tobacco-related disease, death, and healthcare costs.
