Teens Who Use E-Cigarettes Due to Flavors

This indicator shows the percent public school students in grades 9-12 who have used an electronic vapor product and did so because of the flavors.

Why is this important?

Flavored tobacco products are driving the youth vaping epidemic. Nationally, 81.5% of youth who use e-cigarettes report product flavoring as their top reason for use and 85% use e-cigarettes with flavors. With more than 15,500 unique e-cigarette flavors available on the market, the tobacco industry uses a wide variety of flavors, images, and names to market the products to kids Although the tobacco industry claims to offer a variety of products to respond to their adult users, flavors play an important role in alluring youth into a lifetime of addiction.
