Hepatitis C-Related Death Rate

Select a County
Measurement Period: 2016-2020
This indicator shows the age-adjusted hepatitis C involved death rate (with ICD-10 codes B17.1, B18.2) per 100,000 people.

Why is this important?

Hepatitis C is a liver infection caused by the hepatitis C virus that more than half the time develops into a chronic infection. Chronic hepatitis C can lead to more serious conditions like cirrhosis and liver cancer. It is important for individuals to get tested for hepatitis C as there is currently no vaccine for the infection. However, treatments can cure most people with hepatitis C within 8-12 weeks.
