Persons Who Got the Flu Vaccine

Measurement Period: 2021-2022
This indicator shows the percent of persons aged 6 months and over who were vaccinated against seasonal influenza for the flu season.

Why is this important?

Millions of people get seasonal influenza (flu) every year. For most people, the flu is mild, but it can be very serious and even cause death. It can cause high fever, diarrhea, and seizures in children, lead to pneumonia and can be dangerous for people with heart or breathing conditions. An estimated 400,000 Americans are hospitalized each year due to flu and 22,000 (mostly elderly) people. The seasonal flu vaccine is recommended the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to prevent the spread of flu and serious illness and death. This is a Healthy People 2030 Leading Health Indicator.
