Melanoma Incidence Rate

This indicator shows the age-adjusted incidence rate for melanoma of the skin in cases per 100,000 population.

Why is this important?

Melanoma is the most serious type of skin cancer because it is more likely to spread to other parts of the body if not treated early. It is the most common form of cancer for young adults 25-29 years old. According to the American Cancer Society, around 99,780 new melanomas will be diagnosed in 2022. In the US, the percentage of people who develop melanoma has more than doubled in the past 30 years.
