Adults with Prediabetes

Select a Primary Care Service Area
Measurement Period: 2014,2016-2018
This indicator shows the percentage of adults without diabetes who have been told by a health care professional that they had prediabetes.

Why is this important?

Prediabetes occurs when your blood sugar level is higher than normal, but not high enough to be diagnosed as type 2 diabetes.  Without intervention, prediabetes will likely develop into type 2 diabetes within 10 years.  However, progression isn't inevitable.  Healthy lifestyle changes such as diet and exercise can bring your blood sugar level back to normal.
