Tobacco Use Prevention & Control Tracker

The 2016-2020 Tobacco Use Prevention & Control in Hawaii Five-Year Strategic Plan is intended to serve as the principal guide to achieve a Hawaii free from tobacco use, nicotine addiction, and exposure to secondhand smoke.  It focuses on the goals established by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for comprehensive tobacco control programs:

  • Prevent initiation of tobacco use among youth and young adults.
  • Promote quitting among adults and youth.
  • Eliminate exposure to secondhand smoke.
  • Identify and eliminate tobacco-related disparities among population groups.

The plan was developed by the Hawaii State Department of Health, Tobacco Prevention & Education Program with the help of many experts, public health officials, nonprofit agencies, and community representatives.
