Editorial Policy

Introduction

The 'Hawai'i Health Matters' website is intended to be a place where community members, professionals, and policy makers can learn about the overall health of Hawaii residents. It is a website dedicated to providing local health data, resources, promising practices, news articles, and collaboration tools. In keeping with Hawai'i Health Matters goals, it is important that the site provide balanced information o­n a broad range of topics affecting the health of our community and highlight the assets in our community.

Website Linkages

The Hawai'i Health Matters website content is integrated and linked with relevant content o­n the Hawaii Health Data Warehouse and Hawaii Department of Health websites. These linkages increase the value of both the Healthy Hawaii website and the sponsor websites. 

Content Guidelines

New content additions are evaluated by the governing board based o­n the following general criteria:
1. Does it add value or fill a gap?
2. Is the content current and can we keep it current?
3. Is the indicator or content valid and credible?
4. Does the information exist in a readily usable form?

Advertising

No advertising will be permitted unless the Healthy Hawaii editorial and governing boards approve it.

Governing Body

The editorial board for this website is currently comprised of members of the Hawaii Health Data Warehouse and Hawaii State Department of Health. This may change over time. The editorial/governing body reviews the addition of new indicators, reports, and featured content. News articles and promising practices are provided by the Healthy Communities Institute, and local resources are provided by Aloha United Way.  The governing body and the Hawai'i Health Matters website do not endorse or advocate any political initiatives or political figures.  The overall goal of the governing body is to ensure balanced content.
